This Rotary International project is run by the Cooperative
for Education, and its purpose is to match schools in Guatemala
with individual Rotary clubs in the U.S. and Canada to provide
funding for the schools to start self-sustaining textbook rental programs.
In many of these schools, a rental program makes instruction with textbooks
possible for the first time. For this reason, this program provides not
only the funds to start these rental programs, but also provides students and
teachers with training on effective use and care of the books.
The New Bremen/New Knoxville Rotary club has participated in the Guatemala
Textbook project since its inception in 1997.
