NOVEMBER 2009

Miss Ohio, Erica Gerhart is schedule to address the club at the regular meeting of the club on November 24th.  Rotary Exchange student Shelby Frideger is planning to participate in that meeting via an internet video link and will provide a report to the club on her adventures while in Slovakia,

SEPTEMBER 2009

Canal Park Project - Work is scheduled to begin on September 22nd to close in the canal at the proposed site of the club's centennial park.  It is expected that the work will be completed in about 1 month from the start and the landscaping work to be done by the club will take place in the spring of 2010.

AUGUST 2009

Shelby Frideger of New Bremen,  Rotary Youth Exchange participant was given an informal send off at the August 18th meeting as she prepared to leave for her 10 month visit to Kosice, Slovakia on August 22nd. For more on this story, follow this link.

JUNE 2009

New Club President Takes Office - Incoming Club President Steve Hartwig presented outgoing President Alex Rompilla with a plaque recognizing his year of service to the club. Also, incoming board members were commissioned to their post during the weekly meeting. 

World Community Workshop Update - New Knoxville students Richard Felty (left) and Tim Coulter recently attended the Rotary "World Community Workshop" at Defiance College and spoke to the New Bremen-New Knoxville Rotarians at the June 30 meeting about their experience.  "Cambodia - Then and Now" was the theme of the workshop, and both young men spoke about the understanding they gained about another part of the world.

Rotary Youth Exchange Program - Shelby Frideger of New Bremen will be the first-ever outbound student from the New Bremen-New Knoxville Rotary Club to participate in the Rotary Youth Exchange program.  For more on this story, follow this link.

MAY 2009

World Community Workshop - Five local students from New Bremen and New Knoxville attended Rotary International's "World Community Workshop" at Defiance College recently, and will be reporting on their experiences during upcoming meetings.  Also, Shelby Frideger from New Bremen will participate in the Rotary Youth Exchange program next year, traveling to Slovakia.  She has completed her junior year at NBHS and participated in graduation exercises last week since her exchange year will prevent her from graduating with the class of 2010.

Donation Form for Auction - The donation form for this year's Charity Auction (Nov 7th) is now available by following this link.  Please complete the form and return it to an auction committee member by July 1st.

APRIL 2009

New Club Officers Elected - The next slate of officers for the New Bremen-New Knoxville Rotary Club was elected at the weekly breakfast meeting on April 28 and will begin their terms of service on July 1.  Steve Hartwig will serve as President of the Club, Steve Koenig assumes Secretary duties from long-serving Bernie Schroer, and Mark Cisco will continue as Treasurer.  Sandy Thieman becomes President-Elect, after serving the past year as a board member. 

Incoming board members are Kristen Hough, Anne Larger, and Mark Winner.  Continuing to serve on the board are Diane Gast, Michelle Suchland, and Urban Buschur.  Following his year of service as President, Alex Rompilla will become Past President.
 

MARCH 2009
Easter Egg Hunt Date Chosen
- The date for the Club's Annual Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday April 11th at 1:00 pm at the Jaycee Park in New Bremen.

Centennial Park Project Decisions Made - A decision was made by the village after input from the community and village council to close in the section of the canal designated for the Club's Centennial Park project.   After the village has completed that phase of the project, the club will take on the responsibility of landscaping the area.

Contribution Made - The Club is proud to announce a $500 contribution to support the Tri-County Field of Honor being held in Wapakoneta in July to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the lunar landing by Neil Armstrong.

Rotarian of the Year Named - Chris Killian was named Rotarian of the Year for 2008 at the March 3rd Club meeting.

FEBRUARY 2009
Auction Date Announced
- The date for the Club's Annual Charity Auction has been selected as 
November 7th, 2009

Blood Screening Dates Announced - The club's annual Blood Screening will be held at New Knoxville  
HS on March 14 and at New Bremen HS on April 4.  The times will be from 7-9am at either location.

JANUARY 2009
Firetruck Received in Mexico
- The fire truck that was shipped to Mexico as part of a joint effort
of several local Rotary clubs through the RMMP Project has arrived safely at its destination.
