Rotary Club installs new leadership

The New Bremen-New Knoxville Rotary Club recently installed their new panel of officers including President Kristin Hough.  In years past, the club held their installation activities during the regular Tuesday morning breakfast meeting at Speedway Lanes in New Bremen.  This year, the club tried something new with an evening installation ceremony.

“Everyone was really excited with the increased attendance at our installation ceremony,” said Hough.  “Spouses and kids, families were there to support their Rotarians.  It was a great opportunity for us to teach and demonstrate the principle of “service above self” to our kids and families.  I hope to see more children and grandchildren of Rotarians at community events helping with fund-raisers and sharing their experiences with the club.  Without the support of our families, Rotarians around the world would not be able to devote their time and service to help in changing the world.  The Rotary Motto "Service Above Self" starts at home and grows throughout or communities.”

Hough outlined the activities coming up during her year-long Presidency.  “We have an amazing club and I'm proud to be a part of their leadership for the 2011-2012 year.  Lives will be changed in 2012 with the addition of the Sunshine Playground, blood screening, third grade dictionary project and Rotary International's dedication to eradicating Polio around the world.  I couldn't be more proud of all our New Bremen - New Knoxville Rotarians and the commitment they make to not only their community, but around the world as well.”

Outgoing President Sandy Thieman received the Past President’s Award for her year of service to the club.  “I’d like to thank Sandy Thieman for the excellent job she did as our president last year,” said Hough.  “She continued our tradition of community service, leading us to the completion of the Rotary Centennial Park in New Bremen.  Sandy has been very helpful on the Sunshine Project committee, and she represented us very well all year.”
