New Bremen-New Knoxville Rotary hears from students

Jodi Wellman, a 2010 graduate of NK HS visited the New Bremen-New Knoxville Rotary Club to say thank you for the scholarship she received last year.  She is a Visual Communications Technology major at Bowling Green State University , and has earned a 4.0 GPA during her first year there.  “VCT majors work in print, T.V., computer graphics and online media,” said Wellman.  “I’m not sure exactly what I want to specialize in, but I love the field so far.”  During her talk, Wellman described her first year at BGSU, and her internship with 49 Degrees in Coldwater during spring break.  “I really want to thank you for this scholarship, I think I have put it to good use,” said Wellman.  Each year, the New Bremen-New Knoxville Rotary Club awards four $1,000.00 scholarships.  Two are awarded to two graduating seniors from New Knoxville and to two graduating seniors from New Bremen.  The club also awards two $500 scholarships to the WSU Lake Campus.  Those go to a graduating senior from New Bremen and a graduating senior from New Knoxville.

Richard Felty (NK), Jacob Gusching (NB) and Chelsea Russell (NB) visited the club to discuss their experience at the Rotary World Community Workshop at Defiance College .   Activities and studies at this year’s event were centered on Italy .  “I’ve loved going to this each year, thank you for sending me,” said Felty.  “I just graduated from New Knoxville, or I would go again next year.”  The students learned about Italian history, culture, foods, government with other students sponsored by Rotary Clubs around Ohio and the world.  They met many new people, tried different Italian foods and participated in activities and gave presentations.  “My sister went to this last year, so I asked her all about it,” said Russell.  “She said she really liked it so I decided to give it a try.  I am glad I went.”  The New Bremen-New Knoxville Rotary sponsors three students each year at the World Community Workshop
