Chiropractor visits NB NK Rotary
Dr. Jeffrey R. Paul, D.C. of Paul Chiropractic and
Health
Center
in New Bremen visited the New Bremen-New Knoxville Rotary Club to discuss
“Science Based Nutrition.” He’s
been a chiropractor for 11 years and has been working in science based
nutrition for the past 3-4 years. “Science
Based Nutrition is actually what I would consider a relatively new
personalized supplement and dietary program based on actual data.”
Paul said. We do blood,
urine, hair, and stool sample analysis for that data.”
The process begins with a detailed questionnaire covering
overall health history, medications, vitamins and so forth.
Then, a consultation and exam is scheduled, vital signs are recorded
and blood/urine samples are given. Hair
and stool samples are taken at home and mailed into the lab.
All of these labs are analyzed and compiled into a report for the
client. Based on the test results
and analysis, a specific dietary and supplement program will be implemented
with the client.
“We go over these detailed reports with our clients and then we begin
the necessary supplemental vitamin and dietary program,” Paul said.
“We re-test in 2-6 months to make sure we’re seeing the
improvements we want to see. I
like this program because it’s all based on objective data.”
The data collected through the testing process can also possibly
predict or catch a medical condition or disease.
If a disease process is discovered or suspected, additional tests can
then be ordered. “The program
isn’t considered to be treating a specific disease,” Paul said.
“We’re optimizing the body and the immune system so the body can
naturally heal itself.”
The blood panel covers over 50 parameters and is broken down into a
general clinical reference range and then into a narrower healthy range in
order to identify specific parameters. The
hair sample is analyzed for both natural and toxic elements.
Hair re-testing isn’t performed until 6 months after beginning the
program because it takes longer for elements and toxins to appear in the hair.
The urine analysis is a standard panel and the stool sample is analyzed
for blood and signs of gastro-intestinal issues.
If necessary, a 6 hour urine test can be done to test for toxic heavy
metals if the other tests indicate there may be an issue.
“This entire program is considered within the industry to be the
“gold standard” in natural healing and health,” Paul said. “We’ve
had patients come in with chronic fatigue, cholesterol issues, and hepatitis,
begin a program and see improvements over time.
It’s a case by case program involving re-testing to make sure we’re
continuing to show improvement.”
