Doug Reinhart - Auglaize County Engineer

Doug Reinhart, county engineer for the past 25 years in Auglaize County shared information about a new mapping system that has been developed by his office to map the county real estate in conjunction with the GPS system.

The system is considered to be highly accurate with 3800 GPS reference points throughout the county.  These include 1800 that were set back in the early 1800's and 2000 additional grid control points that have been added.  The mapping is based on deed information and is linked to aerial photograph that was taken in March 2007 for added utility of the website.  The aerial references are expected to be updated every 3-4 years.

Prior to the development of this system, mapping information was available only by visiting the county's GIS office during business hours.  Now, with addition of the website, access is 24/7 from any internet connected computer.  The user-friendly website is located at http://www.auglaizecounty.org./auglaizegis/ and will be available for use by the public within a week or two.
