UD Flyers Broadcast Announcer Dave Ross

Long-time area broadcaster Dave Ross and public address announcer for UD Flyer football games addressed the Rotary club at the weekly meeting.

Ross' debut at Welcome Stadium was when Dayton opened the 2006 football season against Robert Morris in September.  He is a long time admirer of Mike Kelly as Dayton football coach and when Mike personally conveyed the opportunity, he knew it was something he wanted to do.

A native of Sidney, Ohio, Ross graduated from Sidney High School in 1972. He then attended Urbana University, graduating in 1976. A current member of the school's Board of Trustees, he will be inducted into Urbana's Athletic Hall of Fame in September. He also holds an MBA from the University of Dayton.

Ross' 30-year broadcasting career includes broadcasting high school sports in the northern Miami Valley, and covering college sports including NCAA tournament events. He has been public address announcer for a wide range of sports, including college basketball and baseball. Since Sidney Memorial Stadium opened in 2004, Ross has been (and will continue to be) the PA announcer for high school playoff games played there. He is currently a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association Media Advisory Committee, and past president of the Ohio Sportscasters Association.
