Auglaize-Mercer Counties Family YMCA

Allen Baskett, CEO of the Auglaize-Mercer Counties Family YMCA, addressed the club about the 'State of the Y'.  He was pleased to be able to focus on some of the success stories and planned improvements at the YMCA as opposed to focusing on fund raising as in the past.

Recent fund drives have proven successful with an increase in collected funds as well as an increase in the number of donors.  The budget in '07 is operating at a $75K surplus versus a $42K deficit a year ago.

Since '04, $300K in capital improvements have been realized.  Improvements have included upgrades in the cardio vascular equipment in both the North and South facilities, new carpeting & addition of air conditioning in the North's locker rooms.

He reports that facility usage has increased about 7% with a like increase in memberships.  Some contributors to this success are an increase in corporate membership programs and a change in the pool and gym scheduling that allows for family time between 6:30 to 8:30pm.

Future plans include upgrading equipment, adding value to memberships and additional emphasis on corporate memberships.  There are currently 35 corporate members.
