Financial Investment Strategies

Club member and Edward Jones Investment Specialist Ross Brown presented information on investment strategies.  Ross recently moved his residence from New Knoxville to New Bremen and is in the process of opening a branch office in the Amsterdam Center in New Bremen.  He is hoping to have the office open in late August or early September.

Ross shared that three main principles to consider are diversity, quality and long term investments. These principles are based on a study of the history of various financial indicators that traditionally drive investment decisions.

His presentation was optimistic given that since 1962, there has been economic growth 95% of the time with 18 quarters of double digit economic growth.  With charts and figures, he demonstrated that short term reactions to downturns in the markets can be detrimental.

In summary he shared that investments should be based on principles not predictors (economists are only accurate about 32% of the time in their predictions), focus should be on long term, quality and diverse investments and that people should attempt to understand more about their investments.  He believes that stocks should be a 'veggie' side dish as opposed to the main course in an investment portfolio.
